So, in Crysis 2, right away I wanted to invert the look.

I hit the Start button from in-game, and went to the Controls settings.  There it allowed to change the configuration of stick layout and button layout (ie: default, southpaw, legacy, etc.)...but NOT the look inversion!

I was so amazed that there was no look inversion option for Crysis 2!   It was totally going to mess up my Call of Duty playstyle.

Eventually, I found the inversion setting.  It was under Settings, GAME, instead of CONTROLS.  A weird place to put it...you'd think it would be with the rest of the controls.  But, at least it's an option!

Many of the forum posts incorrectly say that you have to have Xbox Live and that you are limited to two-player split-screen if you want to play against bots.

The problem is, people confuse "Combat Training" with playing against bots. True, there are bots in Combat Training, but there are OTHER bots in COD Black Ops as well!

For me, personally, I like to have some buddies who don't have their own XBox come over once a week and play Call of Duty. But it gets old playing the 4 of us against each other (especially since the skill levels vary WIDELY!) With Black Ops, we can split the screen four ways and play on the same team, against multiple AI opponents.

In the Multiplayer screen, choose Local Split Screen. Then Edit Game Options. Where it says "Friends", set that up to 4 (it defaults to 1). Where it says Enemies (which is "Disabled" by default), crank it up to as many as you want to oppose. There are limits to how many you can fight, based on how many friends you have.

There you go! Now you can split screen 4 ways and play against bots. You can even set the difficulty of the bots! (Recruit, Regular, etc.)

In Call of Duty: Black Ops, multiplayer is one of the single important aspects of the game. Many gamers ignore the campaign completely. In fact, the game even gives you the option to set Multiplayer as the default entry point when you launch the game.

Invariably, the release of any new video game brings out the haters and the whiners.

But this video is different in that it actually proves, in a calm, rational way, how the game needs to be improved. Let's hope the Call of Duty franchise listens and releases a patch to fix this.

You have two options:  you can buy a machine and maintain it yourself, or you can have a dedicated server hosted for you.

If you don't mind having the hardware setup in their house, with the proper applications installed, with the inherent trouble-shooting that goes along with it, by all means, setup a gameserver in your house.  That's fine for you and a few friends, but if you want 'the public' to be playing on your server, it can become a hassle.  What if your internet service goes down?  Power?

That's why many of the larger and best 'clans' tend to get dedicated game servers from a host that specializes in that type of environment.

Generally, a good game server hosting service will provide admin tools which let you configure the game the way you want.  Obviously you won't be able to change the game itself (aside from mods which can be loaded), but you can configure things like number of players, map rotation management, user management, etc.  And, they have guaranteed up-time.

Typically you rent by 'slot' per month.  Slots represent the number of players you can have on the server at the same time.

When requesting the size of the server, keep in mind that most games will require at least a dual core processor, if not a quad.  You also want at least a 3GHz processor and 3GB RAM.  Most dedicated game server hosts offer a variety of hardware configurations to choose from.

So, if you're serious about setting up a dedicated game server, tell your clan to donate some money, and find a good hosting service that specializes in game servers.

If Runescape has gotten a little boring for you lately, and you are ready to kick it up a notch, check out the Runescape Wiki (wikipedia).  It is an enormous collection of user-edited information about Runescape.

Of notable interest are the sections on Quests, which can get you past some of the real buggers.  But the Guides section is the most useful.

And little-known is the fact that within the Guides menu is an entire wiki section on Runescape Cheats.  From the main Runescape Wiki, navigate to Guides, then Cheats and Scams.

The upside of this information is it lets you know what to be aware of and how to avoid scams in the game.  Of course, enterprising players may want to use some of this knowledge to get ahead themselves!

Aside from the obvious cheats, the information contained in the Runescape Wiki is enough to advance your player far faster than could be done without all this concentrated help.

2: Get the moves down in training before you attempt the real thing. If you do the Heavy Bag training, and simply don't push A to begin it, you can shadow box all you want and you'll see very clearly how your Mii responds to the punches you throw.

3: It doesn't matter how much you move your body. It only matters how much you move the Wiimotes. When dodging, punching, and counter attacking, make sure that you're moving the Wiimotes, not your torso. This happens a *lot* even if you think it's something obvious, many people instinctively do this without realizing it.

4: Against real opponents, computer or otherwise, timing is the key. If you are getting hit repeatedly, you go into hitstun and cannot throw punches. Block or dodge instead. If your opponent is getting hit, same thing. Keep your opponent from comboing you by jabbing them from time to time. It throws off their rythmn. When you get the chance to counter attack, after a successful critical dodge, land some heavy hits if you can and then *back off.* The opponent will be angry and attempt to retaliate. This sets up another critical dodge and an easy counter punch KO. I've KOed people in the 700 pt range within the first round like this. If you stay on the offensive for too long, the opponent will counter attack you instead and you'll start losing all your headway.

5: Find your own special punch. Everyone has a particular way they prefer to box. Myself, I have a nasty 2 hit uppercut that I KO people with. I have friends that have various other moves, one has a low gut punch, another a wide haymaker liver blow. Whatever it is that you have the most familiarity with and can use easily, memorize it and use it after a critical dodge. In the middle of the game, it's very easy to confuse yourself and lose the chance to land those meaty counter hits, so make sure your own special punch or combo is ready and armed. After a critical dodge, a simple jab will stun them severely allowing you to tack on your heavy hit after. Watch your Mii onscreen to see when his glove comes back into ready position after the counterjab, and throw your KO blow.

6: When doing combos on an opponent, he will get pushed back progressively. If you really rock an opponent with a massive combo, he'll get pushed back out of the range of your hits quickly. Stop attacking. If he completely gets knocked beyond the range of your hits, you'll whiff and the opponent will immediately get a counter attack chance on you as you expose yourself.

7: Understanding the lifebar. The little pie chart on the side of the opponent is his lifebar. That's a pretty easy concept to follow. What isn't so obvious is that this doesn't work like simple HP in most games. Every hit you do will eat away as his lifebar as normal, but upon wearing him down to the point where a slice of the pie chart is blinking, jabs will not accomplish anything. You must land a heavier hit to wipe out the blinking piece and erase it from his chart. Counter attacks will almost certainly destroy a piece of his chart instantly and landing more heavy combo counter punches after will eat away large sections of his life chart. You cannot jab someone into KO. You must setup heavier hits in order to move past the blinking pieces. This is easy to do with the low level opponents as a simple 1-2 jab might remove it, but on higher level opponents only heavy attacks on counterhits will successfully wipe out the final blinking section to lead into a KO. The faster you can wear down his life chart, the less chance the opponent will get to rise from a KO. If you slowly wear it down over the course of many rounds, it's not likely that you'll score a KO and the opponent will regain more of his life back after the fall.

Balancing between offense and defense is really important in this game. You must mount and offense to keep the opponent from going into their heavy combos and you must keep a decent defense to land counterhits reliably. Your offense is your defense and your defense is your offense. It's wierd, I know, but it works here.

Boxing Moves:

This is only what I've found after reading a bit of advice online and practicing myself, via shadow boxing before the Heavybag Training excersize. These might not work for you, so play with movements until you get your own punching ability down.

The basic boxing stance is to hold your Wiimote and Nunchuck vertically in front of you.

Dodging is tilting them both side to side.

You can also dodge backwards by tilting them backwards towards you. In addition, you can duck forwards by quickly tilting them forwards until they're parallel to the floor. This isn't easy though, so rely on the side to side dodges more. Dodging also steps your Mii in that direction, so you can use it to place yourself more to either side to adjust your stance.

Punching is a quick motion in the proper direction. Slow punches aren't picked up as easily by the Wiimotes so try to make the motion quick, like a jab. The accelerometer will pick them up much better that way.

To high jab, simply flick the Wiimote forward. It doesn't need to be tilted, simply pushing it foward quickly will do it. Keep the Wiimotes vertical.

To body jab, hold the Wiimotes horizontal and push them forward the same way.

To uppercut, simply flick the Wiimotes upwards. It helps if the Wiimotes are lower on your body when you do this, but you can uppercut from the base position as well. Uppercuts require a quicker motion than the base jabs do. Tilting the Wiimotes helps in this as well.

To haymaker/hook, push the Wiimotes sideways quickly. I've found that you don't need to turn them or rotate them much at all. Simply push them very quickly to your side. The angle at which you do it, determines what hieght you'll haymaker at.

Straight punches are a natural part of comboing jabs. If you throw a left then a right jab you'll naturally throw a left jab and a right straight. It's an automatic response to comboing. You can control this a bit by changing how quickly you punch. Unlike real boxing, a straight in this game is measured by how quickly you throw the jab. The faster, the more likely it is to pick up a hard straight instead. It's possible to throw series of left and right jabs followed by a straight to end it. Play around with the heavy bag a few times to see if you can get the hang of how fast or slow you need to punch to get them to come out.

Comboing is a mixture of timing and good eye coordination. No matter what you do in reality, if your Mii is out of position, they'll never be able to respond. Watch your Mii's gloves as he throws punches, unless it's quick jabs, he simply cannot throw another punch until he finishes the first one. *Slow down.* While the punch motion itself should be quicker, the time between punches should be slower. Don't flail at the screen, it won't get anything done. When your Mii recovers from throwing the first punch, throw another. When he recovers from that, thrown another with the other hand. Repeat.

Combos lead to big hits. Throwing a haymaker or an uppercut will certainly have a bigger effect than throwing a jab. But throwing a heavy hit on the end of a combo will have even greater effect. An easy combo to use is the 1-2-heavy combo. Do a right jab, then a left jab, then a right heavy hit (Uppercut or Haymaker.) The final hit will do much more damage than normal and will commonly down people if landed after a critical dodge. With some timing, you can actually land a series of very heavy hits, each one doing more damage than the one before it. This takes practice and good eyesight to recognize when your Mii is recovered from each punch.

This is as much as I've found so far. These little tricks alone were more than enough for me to wipe the floor with most everyone until the 800+ level class. I'm still searching for reliable ways to throw the tricky downwards rabbit punch, if I find out, I'll post here

Okay! Now we all know that Nintendo's official line is that cards larger than 2GB will not work on the Wii...and for the most part this is true. However...what about a 4GB SD (NOT SDHC) card that PRETENDS it's a 2GB, but then over time can be slowly expanded to meet it's 4GB potential?

I scoured the net for info on how to get this to work, and now I present to you the fruits of my labor. Here is a mini FAQ on how to get 4GB SD cards to work on your Wii.

1st of all, get a hold of this non-SDHC SD card:

OK! So you got your SD card. You'll notice that if you format it through Windows or your Disk Management, regardless if you do FAT/FAT16/FAT32, the Wii will NOT recognize it. No problem. Google and download an app called SDFormatter. Better yet, just use this link:

Format Type: QUICK

Format Size Adjustment = OFF

These are the default settings, so they should already be selected. But in case they are not, there you go.

Now, in case the above settings don't work for you, then do this:

Click OPTIONS

Select 'FULL (Erase ON)' under FORMAT TYPE and 'ON' under FORMAT SIZE ADJUSTMENT.

This format will take upwards of 3-5 minutes, but your card should work without any problems after that.

Okay, so now you format your SD with this program. It might take a LOT longer than a normal SD format. Don't panic!...it's normal. When this is done, if you were to insert the SD back into the Wii, it would at least display empty channels, which at least means it recognizes the card. However, you will not see a how many blocks remaining number, and the Wii will refuse to write data to it.

Bummer, right? No problem. Now the trick is to fool the Wii into thinking that your 4GB card is actually a 2 GB card.

1st, take your current Wii Card and make a copy of it on your computer. Then, drag that folder to the 4GB card to copy. Then go into my computer, right-click the SD card, select properties, and keep your eye on the free memory.

An empty 4GB card reads as 3.72 or so GB. In my case, after I copied my existing Wii data to it (544 MB), I had like 3.20 GB's of free space. If you were to insert the card now, you would SEE your Wii data, but would be unable in transfer anything to the SD from the Wii. You can only go one way...from the SD to the Wii.

Now comes the fun part. Your job is to get the free memory down to 1.99GB or lower...basically anything under 2.00GB. I accomplished this by using a 700 MB Naruto movie, 2 double episodes (298 MB and 285 MB) and a few odd episodes of Game Center CX which took me down to 1.99GB on the nose (took me some trial, error, and different sizes and genres of .AVI's to nail it). Doesn't matter what you use...apps, programs, porn....as long as it pads your card down to 1.99GB or lower, you're in business.

This is an app called creatfil.exe from the NT4 resource kit that creates any size dummy file for you by basically just making a text file with a bunch of spaces in it.

To use the application you copy the exe to the folder where you want to create the dummy files, open a command prompt to that folder and type 'creatfil.exe filename size'

- example C:\createfil.exe dummy.txt 1024 (this will create a 1 MB text file of nothing)

To make the process easier I've included a quick batch file we use on our Exchange servers here:

I've modified it so that it will create 10 100MB files where ever you execute it.

Create a new folder on your SD card
Copy both creatfil.exe and whitespace.bat to the new folder
Double click on whitespace.bat

Whenever you need more space you can just delete one or more of the dat files the whitespace batch file created. You can edit the batch file to have it create as many files of whatever size you need.

edit: here is a snazzy VBS script that will ask you how much space you need to fill and how big you want the dummy files. Much easier than my batch file.

Instructions!

1.) Create a new folder on your SD Card

2.) Name it Dummy Files

3.) Copy the creatfil.exe and createfile.vbs files to the Dummy Files folder

4.) Double-Click the vbs file, and enter the amount of whitespace you wish to create

5.) Click Ok, and now enter how many files you wish to create

6.) Click Ok, and now enter the FULL PATH to the folder on your SD card (example - F:\Dummy Files)

7.) Click Ok one last time and you should see a black command window pop up and creatfil.exe will start making your whitespace files. After it is done, you should have your whitespace files and a batch file in your Dummy Files folder that you can run again anytime to recreate the files.

After a quick 5 minute crash course in Command Prompt editing, I have modified the original script and made it so that when it runs, this will automatically create 3 512MB files and 1 300MB file, which if you are starting with a brand new 4GB card, will set you up perfectly to use your card!

Note that whatever you use will be transparent, meaning that nobody would see your porn AVI's recognized as data. Just make sure that it's not one big azz file....I will explain why in a moment.

NOW put it in your Wii. You will now see something like this:

As you might have noticed, the number of blocks will be greatly increased for the same amount of Wii data! What you DON'T see is that I have 2 1/2 more pages of games on this card. On my 2GB card, my total blocks remaining was 11108!

*Also, a blank, freshly formatted 2GB card weighs in at 15466 blocks available, which makes my case with the picture above that much more solid.*

NOW! Some of you are saying, "Well geez! I might as well stick with my 2GB card if I can't even use the full 4GB's of space!" Valid point. Now here's why you shouldn't:

1) The speed gain for transfers is comparable and in most cases a bit faster, depending greatly on factors such as brand, read/write speed, and format.

Here are the transfer times with this SD card compared to the Wii branded SanDisk 2GB SD using this method.

Test setup: My Wii only had the required channels (Disk Channel, Mii Channel, Wii Shop Channel, Photo Channel 1.1, Forecast Channel, and News Channel).

This meant that there were 1800 free blocks for channels. Before every test, my Wii was reset to this state.

I tested 4 of my largest channels:

1. Y's Book I & II - 272 blocks
2. Sin & Punishment - 287 blocks
3. Paper Mario - 249 blocks
4. Internet Channel - 232 blocks

With my old card, a 2.0 GB SanDisk Wii-branded Card:

After I downloaded update 3.4, I tried my original benchmark for my 4GB card trick. I pulled those results down awhile ago, since it seemed to distract everyone from the real function of my "hack". So, as a refresher:

2) As you slowly fill your SD with videogamey goodness, and as you get low on blocks, stick your card back into your PC and lose that 700MB Naruto movie. When you stick it back in the Wii, your remaining blocks would have magically increased and you still have all of your previous data!

Bottom line: As long as your card's free memory stays at 1.99GB or lower, you WILL be able to use MOST if not ALL of that 3.72 GB's of space. It takes a little bit of juggling, but I feel it is worth it.

Disclaimer: Whenever you decide to remove a file to increase your space, save a copy of the card in it's current state on your computer, just in case. I can't guarantee that this method is infallible, but it has been working AWESOME for me thus far. And who knows....if this makes too much noise, Nintendo might try to squash it (though I highly doubt it).

I won't give it all away (like all the secret jogging trails), but there are a couple of cheats from there that I will share.

One is to set a heavy object on the balance board during the Lotus Focus.  This obviously keeps the flame very still.

Another obvious one is during the run to just sit down and take it easy while shaking the Wiimote up and down (somewhat slowly) to simulate running.

One of the best tips was for the Tightrope Walk.  I hate that game.  The Wii Fit Guide suggests that you kneel on the floor and 'walk' on the board with your hands...it's much easier.

There's another one about how to get Fit Bank points really quickly, but I don't want to give everything away.

I've tried Circuit City, Game Stop, and all the local game shops like Play N Trade, etc. They all tell me the same thing: "We're out of them right now, but we should have 3 units in on Tuesday." When Tuesday comes, I get there and they tell me that they're gone already.

It's ridiculous.

WiiWare are games that you can download to your Wii from Nintendo.

The easiest way to get them is through the Shop Channel right on your Wii!

First, make sure your Wii is connected to your internet.  To do that, from the Wii Menu, under Options, choose Internet.  Establish a connection through your wireless router (you may have to input the WEP key, which is usually printed on a label right on your router).

Once you are connected, you can visit the Wii Shopping Channel from your Wii Menu.  You can browse through there, looking for games you might be interested in.

You buy WiiWare games with 'Points'.  Points are basically worth a penny, so 1000 points will buy you a $10 game.  You 'Add Points' at the main menu of the Wii Shopping Channel.  You input a credit card number and select the number of points you want to buy.

Once you have points, you can select any of the WiiWare games in the Wii Shopping Channel and download them.  Please note, this will take up 'blocks' of space on your Wii's hard drive.  It tells you how much each game takes up and how much you have available.  If you do this alot, or have lots of save-game data, you may need to clear up some space before downloading a bigger game.

And that's how to get WiiWare games onto your Wii!
