How to Use Gasoline in a Coleman Stove
Most camp stoves use what is called 'white gas', or naptha, for fuel. This is clean-burning, and is safe to use in the stoves (and in many lanterns).
But what if you are fresh out of white gas? Can you use the unleaded gasoline from the nearest pump? It sure would be convenient, but is it safe?
It is safe...IF you are using a Coleman stove specifically designated as 'Dual Fuel'.
Dual Fuel Colemans are specially designed to handle the different flashpoints of the various fuels, and to use parts that can tolerate a wider range of temperatures.
Other stoves may not be safe to use with gasoline.
If you use gasoline in a Dual Fuel Coleman, always look for the lowest octane level possible (as it has fewer additives).
