How Does the Vizio vs370e Compare?
How does the Vizio vs370e compare to other models?
The Vizio 370e is a 37" LCD HDTV. Many folks have been looking for this model lately, although I'm not sure why. It only has 720p resolution, so it's not true Hi-Def. You can find many other models of HDTV (even Vizio!) with better quality at about the same price. One major box store was selling the Vizio vs370e for about $550. I'd rather pay an additional $50 and get 1020i (or even 1020p if you can find it, which is possible!)
Vizio makes some great HDTVs, so I'm really surprised that this particular model is so popular. Frankly I'd prefer their 42" model.

The VS370E uses only 70 watts with the backlight set at 10%. This provides a picture brightness that is more than adequate in our viewing room during the daytime. The 720 resolution is not an issue at a normal viewing distance. The set puts out a very good picture
On the negative side, this set has no Electronic Program Guide, which makes it a dog for Off the Air TV viewing.
The onscreen menu/information display is difficult to see because of the small font, cyan colored lettering and translucent display box. Broadcasters never use such a small, low contrast font in text they expect the viewer to be able to read.
Even if the 720P resolution doesn’t bother you, the lack of EPG and terrible onscreen menus should cause you to look at other sets.
