How to Choose a Metal Detector

How to Choose a Metal Detector

Once you get beyond the 'toys' that are sold at Walmart and Radio Shack, the choices of a serious metal detector are vast, and have a huge price-range.

I've just recently gotten into the hobby, and shortly after I got my White's Prizm III, I joined the treasurenet.com forum.

Treasurenet.com is probably one of the best and most active treasure-hunting forums online. There is a ton of information there that will help you understand which model of metal detector is best for what you want. It varies from beach to heavy-mineralized soil. It varies from whether you're just looking for loose change, or relic hunting for antiquities buried deep underground.

In addition to reading all kinds of information about what kind of detector is best, the members of the forum will help you choose. Don't rely on a website that is really just trying to sell you something in order to help you decide...ask experienced folks who have no agenda but love their hobby and are eager to help.
