How to Beat the Tanks in Crysis

Tanks in the Crysis video game are frackin' scary! They are realistically tough to kill, and can very easily kill you in spite of the benefits of wearing the Nano-suit.

The first time you encounter the tanks is after you free the first hostage.

Look around on the first floor of the building and find a room with some rocket launchers in them. Two direct hits from a rocket launcher usually is enough to take them out, though it may occasionally take three.

Placed charges can also be used. Those are the little radio controlled blocks of explosive that you will occasionally find. Tanks usually have a set patrol. You can stealth out into the street when the tank isn't there and drop the explosive charge. Re-stealth, and move away from the charge. (You don't want to be anywhere near it.) Right click while you have the charge selected as your weapon and you'll get the little hand-held detonator. Click that when the tank drives on top of the charge. It will take more than one hit, and this is the slow way to go about it, but if you don't have a rocket-launcher, it's another option.

In general, however, if you have to encounter a tank, there will be weapons available for you to use against them. Either the men you kill will drop rocket launchers, or there will be a stash somewhere nearby. It just takes a little exploring around to find them. But hey! That's what stealth mode is for!

Note: the minigun CAN be used to take out helicopters, but that's a separate story!
